Our director, Dr. Edward Latham

Dr. Latham (B.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., Yale University) is Associate Professor of Music Studies and Coordinator of the DMA in Music Performance program at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance, where he advises some of the Greater Philadelphia area’s finest student musicians. As a tenor, he performs with the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, the resident choir of the Philadelphia Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Joe Miller and Maestro Yannick Nézét-Séguin, and has also sung professionally with the Philadelphia Singers, the Philadelphia Chamber Choir, the Mendelssohn Club, and the Music Group of Philadelphia.

Dr. Latham’s theatre performance credits include a recent premiere at the Arden Theatre, performances with Beggar’s Opera and The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, off-Broadway musical theatre work with Maury Yeston, and a production of The Marriage of Figaro with Peter Sellars. As a singer, he has toured the world with various choral ensembles and has over 150 performances to his credit, including professional and solo engagements under the direction of Charles Dutoit and Helmuth Rilling.

Currently the Director of Music at St. Thomas of Villanova Parish (Villanova, PA) and the Associate Director of Liturgical Music at St. Katharine of Siena Parish (Wayne, PA), Dr. Latham accompanies regularly on both the piano and the organ, and directs multiple choirs of all ages. He has previously held directorships at Daylesford Abbey (Paoli, PA), St. Genevieve Parish (Flourtown, PA), and St. Thomas More Catholic Chapel and Center at Yale University. He assisted Dr. J. Donald Dumpson in the preparation of the Philadelphia Heritage Chorale, and joined them in performing with Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, and Juan Esteban, and the Philadelphia Orchestra for Pope Francis at the 2015 World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia.
